Struggling to find decent art shops in Gloucester I thought I'd visit Jackson's Art. I was surprised to find lack of choice when I walked in. I was looking to purchase brushes, canvas and paints but ended up leaving with only a canvas. The shop was quite busy, I don't know if that's because of the short opening times for a Saturday. I had to wait quite a while as there was only one person behind the counter. When I got served, the lady was pleasant and processed my purchase. It was my first time shopping at Jackson's and I feel disappointed with the experience. My email wasn't taken and there wasn't any rapport built. The shop had no atmosphere. I would like to add posives but I'm struggling to find much. I didn't get any paint in the end or decent brushes but the canvas was great.
Top class shop, professional and well presented, best of all the staff are friendly and helpful. You just can't leave without buying something!

Local to me (within 50 miles) Jackson's offer a vast array of art materials to suit most price points. There are hidden gems to be had, higher quality items at very affordable prices:- water soluble pencils from Bruynzeel (Holland) excellent colour quality similar to Professional artists requirements. Try their own brands of tubed paints. Free parking, toilet facilities, knowledgeable friendly staff and online. Their catalogues cover everything every Artist could potentially want. Even materials that make watercolour paintings on Canvas possible.. Wow!!!
Fantastic range of art materials, including high quality professional ranges as well as basic hobby equipment. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and greeted me with a free cup of tea. The shop front backs onto their warehouse so anything that is available in different sizes or volumes can be pulled from the warehouse if it's not immediately on display. Staff have samples of their paint ranges on hand to show differences between ranges of paints. I was really impressed on my first visit, and I intend to shop with them as my preferred supplier for art materials in the future.
